How To Create An Attention Grabbing Resume
Starting at the Beginning: The Cover Letter
A resume cover letter is nearly as important as the resume itself. If the cover letter does not show the employer a top rate employee, he or she may decide to go with another applicant.
It is extremely important to make sure to address each point that is mentioned in the ad you are responding.
Show the employer, through words, which jobs and experience you have. If they are interested in someone with computer experience, let them know how you gained the computer experience and how much experience you have.
Moving On to the Resume
Proper resume format requires that there is a heading at the top of the page with your name, which should be centered, and bolded, and contact information. In regards to your contact information, please make sure there is a way for your potential employer to reach you by phone.
If you are not available when they call there should be a way for him or her to leave a message on an answering machine or a voice mailbox. One last resume tip is to make sure to have bold headings between sections such as: objectives, employment history, and education.
Using action words instead of using telling verbs will increase your resume’s readability. You want to use words such as increased profits, reduced debt, saved time, and improved moral, when describing some of the accomplishments that you made.
Of course that is only if these are the accomplishments that you personally made. If you want to improve these specific action words to make them even more attention grabbing try putting numbers with them, like so:
* Increased profits by $20,000 in the second quarter
*Reduced debt by 20 percent by implementing new packaging method
*Saved time in the shipping department so that production increased by 15 percent
*Improved moral by assisting Human Resources manager implement new rewards program
