A good way to find out what you want is to use job listings you find on job search engines. By seeing a list of occupations in your field, you can see what's hot and what's not, and hopefully, find out where you want your career to go.

With a job list, you can find out what are the current trends in your industry, see if you fit and form an action plan. Your action will basically be based on your decision on whether you want to improve on your current chosen profession or make that drastic change and be... a chef for example!

You can develop an industry or occupation list by doing some research in different career search engines. See the hot jobs and make a note of the skills required, the salary rate, job hours, etc. Take stock too of everything that YOU think will or will not make you take any position on the job listing.

After reading the complete job list, remove any job that you aren't really interested in exploring and write down the reasons why you do not want to explore these occupations. Next go through the job list again and find information for each job and do research on each. Write down your findings next to the job. You can also make a list of related jobs next to these.
