Career Counseling in Sales

Sales Help is a Click Away

Nothing is as discouraging for a salesman than to be rejected by the person he is trying to convince. Many salespeople, regardless of which industry they represent, have undergone a session or two of career counseling. Sales jobs are in critical need of expert advice because of the psychological and emotional stress related to their work.

Career Counseling for Handling Sales Objections

A job in sales can truly be a stressful experience especially when your customers begin to display unenthusiastic behavior to what you're offering. Understanding the telltale signs of your potential clients can save you from tension-rich situations.

Body Language

Jobs in sales may involve a certain number of gestures and postures. Be sure that when you address your client, the wave of your hands or the expression on your face must not be such as to intimidate, scare or embarrass your customer. Be careful of your body language and read your customer's own reaction. Someone walking away slowly from you could mean you're encroaching on his comfort zone.

"I'm not interested"

Sometimes, even without saying anything, your customer has already decided he's not interested to buy from you. This could be because the product you're selling is not attractive (this is commonplace for insurance products). Don't impose; just ask your customers nicely for a few minutes of his time. Listening to what you have to say may benefit him far more than the time he spent listening to you.

Ask for Referrals

In any sales job, an objection should never lead to a negative end. Simply ask for referrals. Objections can lead to positive sales situations by the network your potential customers have.
