Federal Government Jobs - Working for the USA

Federal government jobs are available to any eligible individual residing in the United States. Even the recruitment of non-citizens is possible, following certain guidelines and criteria. Working for your country can be a worthwhile and truly noble experience.

How Federal Government Jobs are filled

Many federal agencies fill their jobs like private companies do. Most, if not all, have websites which applicants can visit and view to know more about job availability, agency information and application processing. A federal government job application in a federal agency is normally independent of a central processing unit, i.e., federal agencies on their own are responsible for recruiting and fill in a vacant federal government job.

While the application process may be similar to private industries, applying for a federal government position has certain differences due to the rules that govern federal employment. Normally, a resume will be required; in some cases, an Optional Application for Federal Employment (OF 612) can be accepted. There are 2 types of employment - COMPETITIVE and EXCEPTED. The former is for a federal government job that has to meet certain qualification requirements to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly. The latter is a type of federal government job that gives exception to certain types of applicants, such as veterans, the youth and the disabled.

How to apply

Job vacancies are posted by the USAJOBS system. A wide range of media is used such as newspapers, magazines, TV advertisements and website ads. All you have to do is answer directly a posted job vacancy and submit all the necessary requirements.

Good luck and happy job-hunting!
