Job Interview Questions: Jobseekers, Be Prepared!

Job interview questions play a MAJOR part in an individual's quest of getting a job. His career may depend on how he carries himself during an interview.

Job Interviews - Bringing Your Best Foot Forward

You may have the requirements required by the employer - the necessary skills, interest in the company and position, and a stable work history - but still, during the job interview, you have to express your purpose clearly and show that you have a positive attitude towards the job position you're applying for. Here are some tips when you're going for a job interview:

  • Before the job interview, do some research about the company to show your genuine interest. It will also make you feel more comfortable during the interview.

  • Be eager to show your interest in the company by asking the right questions that will allow the hiring manager to assess your professional and personal needs. However, avoid queries regarding salary, benefits, vacations and retirement.

  • Don't be late. Your arrival should be ten minutes before the job interview. This will allow you to check your appearance after traveling for the interview.

  • Dress properly. Some interviewers state their preference for formal outfits appropriate for office work. Don't hesitate to ask the interviewer what you should wear when he set your appointment.

  • State your good intentions by conducting yourself in a factual and sincere manner. Emphasize your achievements modestly.

  • Be specific in answering interview questions. Lay emphasis on the aspects that have something to do with the job you're applying for.

  • If you're changing companies and the interviewer asks you why you're leaving your present job, don't blurt out negative things about your present company. State your intentions in a respective manner that will reflect your professionalism.

  • Eat before the job interview. It will strengthen you physically and mentally. An empty stomach adds to the tension that interview questions might bring.
