Job Search Engines - Making it Work for YOU

Finding a job using career search engines has become the most popular way for job seekers to find jobs. Using the internet to search for jobs has grown over the past few years primarily because of the ease of its use. As such, it is not only beneficial for job seekers but for employers as well.

Job - Finding the job YOU Want

A search engine focused on job hunting can be a very personal experience. Just because thousands of jobs are on a database does not mean you cannot streamline these opportunities. For one, make sure you use the Sort feature present in most online job sites. You can find a job based in its industry, location, or even when it was posted.

There are also job sites that target certain industries such as BioCareer.com, Govt.jobs.com, Developers.Net, and MedBulletin.com. BioCareer is a search engine for jobs in the biotechnology industry. Govtjobs is a search engine for job openings in the government.  Developers.Net is a search engine for programming jobs, and MedBulletin is a search engine for people looking for careers in the medical field.

If you want to search jobs by region, some of the more popular search engines include Career Owl for Canadian jobs, CTCareers.Org for jobs in Connecticut, City Search for local jobs, and Orlando Sentinel for people looking for jobs in Florida.

Unlike looking for a job in the newspaper, these sites offer more services to job seekers.  Most job search engines allow people looking for jobs to post their resumes that can be viewed by employers.  These search engines also offer other services such as career advice, resume writing tips and salary comparisons so you are never short changed in the industry you specialize in.
